Jack Morrison Retires After 50 Years!
After 50 years in the insurance industry, Jack Morrison, Executive Vice-President has announced his retirement from South Western Group. His last day will be May 4, 2007.
Jack began his insurance career in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1957 as a Junior Underwriter with Federated Employers. After 2 years with the National Service Royal Air Force, he returned to insurance as a Junior Inspector. He gained his A.C.I.I. in 1963 from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, England. After immigrating to Canada in 1964 he earned his F.I.I.C. from the Insurance Institute of Canada and joined Phoenix of London's Toronto office in the claims department. Six years later he transferred to Edmonton to join Follwell Underwriting Managers Ltd., in Edmonton. That did not last too long and in 1974 Jack returned to Toronto to assist in the set up of the Personal Insurance Company. Jack joined Western Underwriting Managers in 1980 until the Ontario division was amalgamated with South Western Insurance Group in 1989.
Jack has played an integral part in the growth and management of our Special Risk business and is a member of the Management and Underwriting teams. He is well known, well liked and highly respected throughout the insurance industry and will be remembered mostly for his kindness and vast insurance knowledge. His leadership and tireless energy will be missed by all.
When not in the gym or on the rugby field, Jack enjoys golf and travel. His wife, Sue and two sons, Mark and Ryan are looking forward to finally having him all to themselves!
